Charge cell phones and other gadgets without the tangled cords?

Blogged in geek stuff, disruptive technologies by Ben Monday December 11, 2006

For all of us sporting a closet or three that are certainly a fire hazard to charge all of our gadgets, this sounds almost too good to be true: a wireless technology that can be used to charge all devices simultaneously, regardless of type or brand. Yet that’s what a company called WildCharge claims to do with its new product.

Pricing for the WildCharger, which is slated for debut at CES in January, has not been released (though early reports put it somewhere between $40 and $100). The company refers to it as “wire-free,” but the WildCharger needs a cord that connects to a power source. Still, we can live with one wire if this product works as billed.

Please let it be true and work well. Does anyone want to read into how and if it works?

Haha, my original title mentioned wall w*rts so the google ads helpfully talked about w*rt remover. I should filter these advertisers out.

I don’ get it. The charger still plugs in. I guess I’m just no so lazy as to not want to plug my phone in.

You just leave the mat plugged in a closet or drawer and through your devices on top of it. If you have only one phone and plenty of convenient outlets the no problem, but if you a gadget freak like me, this would really beat messing with plug strips, Wall Warts, and all the wires.. One cord, one outlet, charge multiple devices or phones.. beauty, eh?

I don’t want to have to plug my phone in all the time either. I guess that qualifies me as being lazy as well.
