Google releases video chat in gmail

Blogged in gmail by ben Thursday November 13, 2008

Google just added video chat to webmail application. Might make it easier to keep in touch, doing video chat without having to fire up Skype or something else. Once you’ve loaded the plugin below you can video chat with others right in your gmail or google apps (nickell.org, pccs.k12.id.us, physics.isu.edu) webmail interface. In my testing it works well but uses quite a bit of CPU, so it might be most useful on a newer computer. But anything that make communication easier and more efficient is a big step forward.

There is a plugin you have to load (mac and windows only, but I imagine that will take care of most of you for now) Download the plugin here:

Looking forward to “seeing” you soon,
Ben
